We are excited to congratulate defenseman Sam Malinski on signing a four year contract extension with the Colorado Avalanche, securing his place with the team through the 2029–30 NHL season.
Sam has shown incredible growth as a player, earning a regular role with the Avalanche and becoming a reliable force on the blue line. His poise under pressure, smart puck movement and consistent play have made him a valuable contributor to Colorado’s success this season. This new contract reflects not only his current performance but also his long term potential within the Avalanche organization.
The Colorado Avalanche have been one of the top teams in the NHL during the 2025–26 season. They currently hold an impressive 37–9–9 record and sit first in the Central Division, reflecting sustained excellence and consistency through the regular season.
Since stepping into a larger role this season, Sam has posted career highs in both assists and points. He continues to prove himself as a steady two way defenseman who can contribute at both ends of the ice. Whether creating scoring chances or shutting down opponents, his versatility and composure have stood out.
