The fall sports season at Academy of Holy Angels was one to remember. With a combined 62 wins and 9 losses across five varsity programs, the Stars not only impressed on the scoreboard but also raised the bar for high school athletics in Minnesota.
Helping drive this success was a continued partnership with Human Powered Health, whose advanced performance testing played a key role in helping AHA’s student-athletes stay healthy, recover efficiently and compete at their best all season long.
This fall, athletes from the Football, Girls’ Soccer, Boys’ Soccer, Volleyball and Cross Country teams took part in preseason lab testing and weekly in-season monitoring using cutting-edge tools and sport-specific assessments, ushering in a new era of data-informed training for the Stars.
Prior to the season, AHA athletes visited Human Powered Health’s Performance Lab in Edina for comprehensive baseline testing. Each session was tailored to the athlete’s sport, with protocols designed to assess performance readiness, strengths and areas for development.
Testing included:
These insights offered a deeper understanding of each athlete’s unique physiology and helped coaches design training strategies that aligned with the physical demands of each sport.

Once the season kicked off, Human Powered Health brought performance monitoring directly to the AHA weight room. Each week, student-athletes performed Force Plate testing to measure critical variables like muscular fatigue, power asymmetries and overall readiness.
This in-season testing model gave coaches valuable week-by-week data to guide:
By integrating science into the daily rhythm of the season, AHA athletes were better equipped to manage physical stress, reduce injury risk and stay game-ready.
Head volleyball coach Tom Emanuel spoke on the importance of the in-season testing, saying, “With us testing and collecting that data, it’s been really helpful for me as a coach, but also the athletes because they want to know where they’re at too.”

The Stars’ fall season was a true showcase of athletic excellence across the board. Both boys’ and girls’ soccer teams delivered standout performances, leading their conference with consistency and grit. The volleyball team maintained an elite level of play all season long. Football ended the regular season with a stellar 7-1 record, earning a bye in the first round of their section tournament.
All together, AHA’s fall teams earned an impressive four Tri-Metro Conference Championships, and finished the regular season with a combined 62 wins and 9 losses, a testament to the preparation, talent and intelligent training behind every performance.

The collaboration between Human Powered Health and the Academy of Holy Angels represents a powerful step forward for high school athletic development. By bringing in tools typically reserved for college or professional teams, AHA is helping their student-athletes take ownership of their performance and push toward their full potential.
With recovery strategies and individual training insights now a part of the weekly routine, Stars athletes are not only excelling this season, they’re laying a foundation for long-term success.
Looking ahead, Human Powered Health remains committed to supporting AHA’s mission of excellence and athlete development. As the Stars chase postseason glory, one thing is clear: they’re not only competing, they’re leading by example that True Health is Self Made.
