Jennifer Vollmann’s Journey to the Himalayan Mountains
Growing up, Jennifer Vollmann never considered herself an athlete. Often being picked last in gym class, she certainly didn’t think a career in sports was her calling. That was until she discovered her potential in endurance racing. At age 33, she made a decision that would change her life.
Jennifer Vollmann’s life was consumed by her job. Running a global education non-profit, the long hours and stress took its toll. She wanted to make a change and turned to fitness as an outlet.
She signed up for her first triathlon, where she finished second in her age group. After hir first race, Jennifer quickly fell in love with endurance training and the sport of triathlon. Now, 8 years later, she travels the world to compete in endurance events. Sharing her training and racing journey on social media, she has built an impressive following.
Mindset Training
Jennifer is also is in the triathlon coaching business, helping other athletes with the mental aspects of racing. A crucial part of race day is teaching mental resilience as athletes push their bodies to the limit and Jennifer specializes in this.
As a dedicated triathlete, she has been tracking her training with various wearables and performance metrics. But, she had never been to a place offering the complete set of performance assessments. Jennifer was excited to discover Human Powered Health and instantly wanted to get testing done to level up her training.
With a full slate of races on the horizon, Jennifer made a strategic stop at the Human Powered Health Scottsdale Performance Lab. There, she completed VO2 max, lactate threshold and sweat analysis, getting critical data to fine-tune her training. Speaking on the importance of accurate numbers, she said, “What I assumed was my sweat rate and sodium content actually wasn’t, so that was great information.”
These assessments helped Jennifer gain confidence heading into her ambitious goal, conquering the Himalayan Extreme Triathlon.
Breaking Barriers at 13,000 Feet
Jennifer recently etched her name in endurance sports history. She became the first American to summit one of the world’s most grueling courses. The course is located 13,000 feet high in the rugged terrain of Nepal. Climbing 6,500 feet from the starting point, she joined an elite group of only three women to ever complete the feat.
It took Jennifer 21 relentless hours to navigate the course, pushing her physical and mental boundaries. When asked about the experience, she said it felt like she had “touched the sky.”
The Journey to The Destination
Jennifer Vollmann reached new heights and showed the world that your starting point doesn’t define your destination. Her incredible journey was captured in real-time on her social media channels, allowing her followers to witness the grit, pain and triumph behind every mile. Jennifers resilience and commitment to continuous improvement is a reminder that True Health is Self Made.
