FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When you book your appointment you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire to assess your intentions and eligibility for a DXA scan, as it is essential for processing an order. If you already have an order from your physician, please contact wellesley@humanpoweredhealth.com and include your name, appointment date and appointment time. We will follow up if we have any questions.

We are a cash-based performance lab, however you may be able to pay with an HSA or FSA or submit your receipt for reimbursement.

The DXA scan itself takes approximately 10 minutes. We book 1-hour appointments to ensure you have adequate time to discuss your results with a performance physiologist, ask any questions you may have and get recommendations for your unique situation.

A body composition analysis is a test designed to provide information on how much bone, muscle mass, and fat a person has within their body.

A body composition analysis is measuring internal factors not able to be measured by a traditional scale. By measuring bone, muscle, and fat mass you get a detailed breakdown on what is going on inside of your body. BMI and other general measurements of body mass are only estimations. The DEXA scan is a precise measurement of your body composition within 1-2%.
