Doebel-Hickok fourth overall in Australia

Climber breaks through in Australian season opener

Rally UHC Cycling’s Krista Doebel-Hickok finished fourth overall at the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under. Doebel-Hickok’s impressive podium performance on the queen stage to Mengler Hill followed by a seventh-place finish on stage three left her only two seconds shy of the overall podium in Adelaide.

“This is one of the best starts to the season that I have ever had,” said Doebel-Hickok. “And to do it with my new teammates is really encouraging for the rest of the year. I have not had much time in a leadership position during my career and what I saw from the ladies this week was extremely motivating.”

After flying to Australia from the team’s launch in Calabasas, CA with only two days rest, Doebel-Hickok’s result was an impressive way to start the 2019 season. The team will stay in South Australia for a week-long training camp before transferring to Melbourne for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Race on January 26th.
