Bergen finishes third at GP Gatineau

Canadian claims podium in Quebec

Rally Cycling’s Sara Bergen finished third in Thursday’s UCI 1.1 Grand Prix Cycliste Gatineau. The 104 km race was dominated by a 20 rider breakaway that formed on the first of two laps in Gatineau Park. Bergen’s teammates drove the pace to keep the chasing peloton from catching while Kelly Catlin, who would finish in fifth place, positioned Bergen for the slightly uphill drag to the line.

“I am pleased with my result and very proud but not 100% satisfied,” said Bergen. “When your teammates sell out for you as mine did today, anything less then the W isn’t good enough. The winning breakaway was built and maintained on the legs of our team so I’m proud of how every one of the Rally Cats rode. This race is a great showcase for women athletes here in Canada and I’m happy to be one of them.”
