Windswept roads of the Arabian Peninsula

Rally Cycling lined-up at the inaugural Saudi Tour (February 4-8) expecting its sprinters Ty Magner and Pier-André Coté to have a crack at the podium in the sprinter friendy stage race. Unfortunately, both became ill and had to withdraw from the event, leaving Stephen Bassett, Matteo Dal-Cin, Adam de Vos, Nigel Ellsay, and Nickolas Zukowsky to improvise on the remaining stages. The old saying “opportunity meets readiness” was never truer as the riders took turns animating the race. Highlights include Stephen Bassett sprinting to eighth on stage 4, Nigel Ellsay getting caught inside the final five km in the race finale, and Adam de Vos’ assault on the general classification.
